Itinerary
Monday, November 9
Take your two hour flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town and arrive in Cape Town in the early evening. We’ll be greeted by our guide and transferred to the hotel where we’ll check in and then gather for wine and cheese tapas. We’ll be staying in the heart of the Stellenbosch wine region, the primary area for the making of Western Cape wines. Rolling vineyards, dramatic mountain ranges and Cape Dutch homesteads provide for extraordinary photographic opportunities. Overnight Spier Wine Farm
Tuesday, November 10 (B, L, D)
Late morning breakfast followed by an up close and personal encounter with Spier’s birds of prey. Eagle Encounters was founded in 2001 by Hank and Tracy Chalmers to rehabilitate injured or abused birds and release them back into the wild. We’ll have a private two hour session with the birds flying and personal encounters. Feel free to take a visit to the Spier handicraft market, where you’ll find a showcase of some of the best craftwork produced in the greater Cape Town area. We have a special lunch planned at Middelvlei, providing traditional dishes in a beautiful country setting.
Wednesday, November 11 (B, L, D) – Cape Peninsula Tour
Breakfast on the run before our early morning visit to the Boulders Penguin Colony, home to a colony of African penguins and one of the few places in the world that you can get close up and personal with these fun little creatures. After a fresh seafood lunch at Two Oceans Restaurant, we’ll drive the Chapman’s Peak which winds its way along the Atlantic coast and is one of the most spectacular scenic marine drives in the world. This is a must for anyone who is passionate for scenery! Sheer drops to the sea below and towering mountains that rise above make this a photographer’s dream. Dinner this evening will be in the wineland of Constantia at the award winning restaurant La Colombe. We’ll change our accommodations to the Protea Hotel Cape Castle on Fisherman’s Wharf for two nights.
Thursday, November 12 (B, L)
If weather permits we’ll visit Table Mountain, a cable car that takes you up a mountain side outside of Cape Town – a great place to photograph the city and coastal area of Cape Town. We’ll then visit the Pan African Market for some last minute shopping and lunch and then return to our hotel for personal time to explore the Fisherman’s Wharf, a five minute walk from the hotel. Dinner on your own tonight. Overnight Protea Hotel Cape Castle on Fisherman’s Wharf
