Question from Kent Jakusz
I have been shooting exclusively with the GH-5 since it’s introduction. My age and physical limitations severely limit my access to wildlife shooting opportunities. Consequently, I shoot real estate stills with the GH-5.
I was recently asked to to shoot a real estate video. I was disappointed with the soft image produced by the GH-5 on panning shots. The shots were made in manual with all stabilizations off on a tripod mounted gimbal. Subject is sharp until the pan is introduced then everything is soft. I have experimented with a lot of the camera setting ie. C4K, 4K, FHD in a variety of frame rates. Best results were 4K 10 bit 30p, ibis on at 1/30 or 1/60 with 8-18 Lumix lens at 10mm. I have slowed the pans down to only 3 degrees /second. The rushes are marginally acceptable whenpanning is introduced.
I would like to utilize the GH-5 for video work. Is this a problem you have experienced? If so what was your conclusion. I am not completely opposed to purchasing another camera body from the Lumix line. Suggestions, thoughts? Maybe my camera is deffective.
Thanks for your time. All The Best

Kent, unfortunately, I don’t shoot enough video to be able to offer any quality advice. I’m going to copy a friend of mine who is very knowledgeable about the Lumix system with his mainstay being video.
