Question? Andreas Lindegger About Sony A9 AF

A honored puffin comes in from the sea with a bill full of Sand Lance to feed its chick. Alaska.

Hello Dan
Is the a9s Autofocus much better than the e m1x for Birds in Flight? I use an e m1 ii so far, and i am quite happy with it since the recent update. But it is somehow still unreliable in certain situations, and changing Autofocus settings + to – takes a while. So im wondering if i should upgrade or switch..
You have a wonderful website!

The EM-1X has very good AF but I’ve never seen anything as good as the Sony A9. So it all just depends on how often you shoot Birds in flight and how important that is to you. At this point, I’ve not purchased the Sony system since I’m not excited about the much larger lenses. For now, I’m sticking with my Lumix gear for travel and for fast action I’m using the EM-1X. But there is no doubt, the Sony A9 is at the top of the heap for action photography.
