SoCal Snowy Owl
A mother snowy owl flies in to deliver prey to her chicks. This image was shot several years ago while working with my good friend Denver Holt of the Owl Research Institute. Denver’s snowy owl program is the longest-running research project on snowy owls ever undertaken, now going into its 31st year.
Denver’s work was recently highlighted in a documentary titled SoCal Snowy Owl. Back in December of 2022, a snowy owl showed up in Orange County, California, and piqued the interest of filmmaker Walter Josten. I worked with Walter’s company, Blue Rider Pictures, and supplied them with some of the video and still images used in this documentary.
