Hiding in Plain Sight

By Daniel J. Cox

Hiding in Plain Sight Natural Note

This arctic hare has taken a position out of the wind on the leeward side of a large rock. This beautiful hare held completely still as I maneuvered for the best angle to get his picture. They’ll often hold their position, sitting as still as a statue, hoping whatever may have seen them doesn’t. If all else fails, they can suddenly spring, at what seems like the speed of light, out of the reach of danger. They’re fast and very difficult for any animal, like a fox or wolf, to catch. I chose this photo hoping you will appreciate this small but endearing animal of the Arctic and the beautiful landscape it lives in.
