African Wild Dog
My first African wild dog experience was somewhere around 1985 in Kruger National Park. I was driving back to camp just as it was getting dark. A small pack of a few individuals appeared at the far reaches of my headlights, seemingly floating across the sandy road as they darted for the cover of the bush. It lasted only seconds and seemed more like an aberration than an actual experience.
The African wild dog is critically endangered with an approximate number of only 5,000 individuals left in all the wilds of Africa.
