Mountain goats are one of my favorite animals. I’m not sure why other than I love where they live. For me, the mountains and their inhabitants represent high and wild freedom. Thankfully most mountain environments are void of human encroachment, so the animals are left to live their lives unfettered.
This family of goats lives in the rocky precipices outside of Yellowstone National Park. The carpet of flowers beneath their feet are mostly alpine buttercups, flowers that signal easier times ahead as they trade the harsh days of winter for the easy living of summer.
