Cubs of Sabi Sands

By Daniel J. Cox

Cubs of Sabi Sands Natural Note

These two African lion cubs were just a small part of the amazing show we recently experienced in South Africa’s Sabi Sands. Although these two little cubs are about as cute as any animal gets, it’s important to remember they’ll grow up to be one of most deadly predators in all of Africa.

Like many wild animals, the African lion has major challenges affecting its survival. In just the last century, the lion population has decreased by 90%. It’s estimated there are only 23,000 of these highly social cats left in the wild. You can find out more about the long-term difficulties these animals face by visiting the African Wildlife Foundation.
