This breathtaking sunset was shot from high atop sommet du Ventoux in France. As I watched the sun go down, I had no idea there were windmills on the horizon. The sun was so bright before it slipped below the thick atmosphere, the willowy towers and blades were undetectable. I remember thinking how I wished there was something more interesting than just the setting sun.
As the fiery red globe sank and the windmills came into view, I was ecstatic! What serendipity. Here in one image are elements of both issues and answers facing our planet. To me, the sun represents the future of power, and beneath it the windmills illustrate another form of clean energy. Both are enveloped by a thick and murky,though beautiful,atmosphere full of dust and most likely pollution. These ingredients combined make a sunset spectacular. Beauty, inspiration, and sadness all in one frame, that’s the power of photography.
