Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe and the largest national park in Croatia. In 1979, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register, and it’s a place you have to see to believe. If you love waterfalls, this is the spot to see them in number and proximity like no other on Earth.
It’s been nearly 15 years since I first flew over France,my first visit to Europe, and I was mesmerized by how much uninhabited, open space I saw. Prior to that trip I thought all of Europe was pavement and houses. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, Plitvice Lakes is just one shining example of how the Europeans treasure nature and open land for all.
This image was taken during our recent trip to Croatia and is just one of the many beautiful places we visited.
