A flower named for its ability to colonize in forest fire burn sites, this beautiful meadow of fireweed was captured in Katmai National Park and Preserve, a place I’ve been photographing for decades. The park was originally a National Monument due to its unique volcanoes and thermal features, but it’s also a wildlife paradise with amazing numbers of brown bears, wolves, salmon, and other terrestrial and marine mammals.
