Google’s Nik Software is Now Completely Free
I have always been a fan of Nik software but once Google bought it I kind of forgot about it as I used other programs. I haven’t seen a lot of updates to Nik so I was concerned it was on the way of the dinosaur. Seems I was wrong.
Today Google just announced they are giving away the entire suite of Nik tools for FREE. At one time it cost nearly $500 for the same tools. Makes me wonder what the catch is, but until I find out there is some disappointing ulterior motive, I would say go for it. The U-Point technology in Viveca is the best tool of any photo software out there.

I have been using NIK software for a few years as a plug-in to Lightroom and it is a wonderful suite of tools. All my final image get a little NIK treatment. I just do a set series of basic stuff and try not to go over the top. It can really save some images by brining out detail like no other. Highly recommended.

Thanks for your input Freddy. I’ve had good luck with the Viveza myself.

By the way, for those interested in seeing what Nik software can do take a look at Fred’s many Blurb books here http://www.blurb.com/user/fredkurtz
