This trip was probably the most productive shoot I’ve ever had in all of Africa. We were especially lucky to find two different packs of African wild dogs, we had over twenty leopard sightings, lots of elephants and all kinds of other African critters. It was another wonderful adventure in the wilds of Kruger National Park and extended game reserves.

Another great year with the brown bears in Alaska. Great people and amazing Hat Party and bears and puffins coming out our ears. Was really great to have Agro with her three cubs of the year.

It was by far the wettest year I’ve ever experienced in Kenya. the grass was long, the dirt roads no longer dirt but extreme mud. It was a difficult year for photography but we still came out of Kenya was some amazing images.

Another season of fall brown bears in the wilds of Alaska has come to a close. I’ve just returned from one of my all-time favorite shoots and we had another great year. It started out pretty soggy with three days shooting in driving rain. Hey, as long as the Explorers want to get out and shoot I’m all in. Thankfully the rain subsided and we ended with four days of glorious sunshine. The rain gave us some moody opportunities we don’t typically get so it all worked to our advantage. Several new Explorers who were traveling with us for the first time and many old timers. All in al it was another great year in Alaska.

This was my first time to Romania and it exceeded all my expectations for fabulous photographic subjects. Tanya and Jill had gone two years earlier to explore and plan the itinerary. They brought back stories of farmers pulling hay wagons with horses, wide open mountain vistas, castles, delicious food and the many interesting faces that were friendly and open to being photographed. It was a photographic paradise that took us back to a time when life was more simple. I can’t wait for our return trip.

Our second group in Japan had a great trip, though we were dodging snow storms the entire time. First Tokyo received more snow than they had seen in twenty years. We got out of town, went to the snow monkeys, one day after leaving the monkeys they get three feet of snow. By that time we where Hokkaido where we met another storm that dumped amounts of snow not seen on Hokkaido in twenty years. Whew…… talk about dodging weather bullets. Belwo are some of my favorite images from trip #2

My first trip to Japan was in 1996. I’ve wanted to go back ever since and was finally able to convince Ms. Tanya we could get others interested in Japan’s amazing winter wildlife. We just recently returned and this is a gallery of images from our first trip. It was even better than what I experienced in 1996. The people, the spotless cities, subways and most importantly their reverence for nature. It was a spectacular adventure.

Italy went beyond all my expectations. I had been there once several years ago but did not have an opportunity to really shoot. This time I did and the photo opportunities are everywhere, the people are amazingly friendly and the food was better than any other country I’ve ever traveled in. We had a great time.

We had an absolutely phenomenal shoot. How special it was to see this place that time seems to have forgotten. The old cars, the incredibly friendly people, the gorgeous, comfortable hotels, all of it beyond my expectations. Can’t wait to return in 2015.

We had an amazing tour. Great people, many returning Explorers, several new to the group. We experienced the alpenglow on some of North America’s most magnificent mountains. We photographed one of my favorite animals the north american elk in rut. Lots of scenics and some phenomenal animal opportunities.

This was our third year exploring the rivers of the Pantanal in Brazil, searching for Jaguars and the many other amazing animals and birds of the region. It was another very successful year with lots of friendly and adventurous Explorers, some new with others who had traveled with us before. A couple, JoAnne and Christine were with us for their second, consecutive trip to this wildlife wonderland. Hope you enjoy my twenty five favorite images from the Pantanal of Brazil

Brown bears in Alaska this year were tough to say the least. No sugar coating here, this was by far the worst season for photographing one of my all time favorite subjects I’ve ever experienced. But that’s life when it comes to wild animals. Thankfully, we had one mother with two beautiful cubs of the year that cooperated on our first day and we were able to get photos of her nursing. Not an easy photo opportunity even in good years. Puffin Island was a big hit since the bears were scarce and there were still lots of birds to photograph. Tanya threw her annual Hat Party which is always a fun evening around the camp fire and she once again took limited out on salmon and halibut. Overall our group had a blast. Just shows why being Invitational Photo tours is an advantage. People don’t whine when things don’t go exactly as planned. Thanks everybody for rolling with the weather and wildlife.

The second trip was as much fun as the first. But by this time I’m starting to put on weight. The food has been incredible. Our weather has been easy to work around. We’ve had some drizzle now and again but the umbrellas make for beautiful photos.

Ireland was way beyond all my expectations. Tanya and Jill did a fabulous job getting it beautifully organized and our Explorers all seemed to have a great time. I know I did. The people, the castles, the landscapes, the history and culture was all extremely photogenic and the quality food just topped it all off. Can’t wait to go back.

It was anther great trip to the wilds of Brazil’s world renowned Pantanal region. We had a great group of Explorers who had the opportunity to photograph 21 different, wild and free roaming Jaguars. We also photographed lots of birds, numerous giant river otters and the beautiful Pantanal landscape.
