Contact Your Reps to Support the CASE Act!

Posted Oct. 21st, 2019 by Daniel J. Cox

The CASE Act, legislation to help you protect the rights to your photographs or any other artwork, is about to be voted on. ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers) states, “The House is set to vote on the CASE Act this week. There are currently 135 House co-sponsors but we want ALL Reps to support the CASE Act. We are asking you and your network to reach out to Reps before this critical vote.”

The CASE Act is way for the little guy (anyone shooting pictures) to go after people or businesses who use their work without permission. It’s a way to have legal power that doesn’t require big time legal costs, kind of like a small claims court for copyright issues.

I’ve been registering my pictures with the US Copyright Office since 1996, and it has paid off handsomely. I have one image that has earned over six figures due to copyright protection on this image. You can earn money for your work as well if it is used without your consent, but we need this new law to protect what is rightfully yours. Did it! Wrote a separate email before realizing there was a very easy way to register my support.
