December 11th, 2013 - January 4th, 2014

Join Daniel and Tanya in Antarctica, Patagonia and South Georgia Island on one of the world’s leading luxury cruise lines, Seabourn Quest. Visit and photograph Antarctica and Patagonia in the comforts of an all-suite, all-inclusive cruise ship built in 2011. Dan will be a photo coach onboard this voyage, lecturing and helping guests in photographing this incredible area. Daily land excursions (except when we are sea) will give you opportunities to explore this vast continent at the bottom of the world. Seabourn is not one of the smallest ships doing this expedition, but they are by far offering the most luxurious travel to Antarctica, a true photography vacation!

    Featured Ports

All eyes will be watching flocks of fascinating seabirds flit, soar and swoop to survey your ship. Noble albatrosses glide effortlessly just above the waves, and petrel squadrons shadow the ship and patter across the surface like ballerinas en pointe. We’ll be watching for whales here too.

All the glamorous grandeur Antarctica can muster is on show along this narrow, seven-mile cut between ranks of towering peaks draped in ice and snow.

The name really says it all. And that is good, because words otherwise fail to convey the heavenly beauty of this landscape. The rest of your life may seem a little brighter, just knowing that such a place exists.

A deep, scenic channel between the large islands of the Palmer Archipelago and the Peninsula. Watch for feeding humpback whales in this area.

Abundant green vegetation will greet you as you arrive by sea. The seas here are rich in nutrients and food, supporting huge populations of penguins, seals and birds. Whales, too, are returning after their long decline due to over-hunting.

Trek among ancient trees, zip-line over canyons or cast for legendary Chilean trout in Chile’s verdant Lakes District.

Walk the trails of the Valdivian Temperate Rain Forest, one of the rarest environments on earth, and learn about the people of Chiloé, who make their livings from the forest and the sea.

Watch for red deer on an island trek, or drive the rugged Rio Simpson Valley to the city of Coyhaique.

Visit the penguin colonies of Otway Sound, or venture inland to the majestic granite peaks of Torres del Paine National Park.

Day after day, your ship glides between towering peaks, some polished and others densely forested. Silvery waterfalls dance from the heights, glittering like tinsel against the stone. A massive, wrinkled river of ice descends to a glowing, blue-white wall at the head of its bay.

A scenic cruise between hanging and tidewater glaciers set in soaring granite cliffs.

Stanley’s cathedral, the oldest in the Southern Hemisphere, is marked by an arch made from whale jawbones. The town’s roofs are painted in different cheerful hues, and the islanders are proud of their sheep, their penguins, and their unshakeable British tenacity.
