June 27th - July 2nd, 2027
This remote Canadian trip offers the best bald eagle action photography Dan has ever experienced! Photograph the unforgettable action of hundreds of bald eagles in a feeding frenzy in this unique area. The tides force little fish, called hake, to the surface from deep waters. Rising at such speed fills their air sacs, preventing the hake from descending. They bob on the surface until the eagles arrive, and then it’s time for feasting! This predictability offers numerous chances to capture the majestic bald eagles in spectacular action.
Along with the eagles, we may have opportunities to see other wildlife, including black or brown bears, on the shoreline. The coastline is a smorgasbord of sealife, and our guides know the best locations! When the tides aren’t bringing the hake to the surface, and the eagles are resting, we’ll search for the magnificent humpback whales and orcas that pass through the area. Pacific white-sided dolphins can also often be seen playing in the wakes of boats or performing amazing aerial acrobatics. This destination is like nothing Dan has ever photographed, beautiful and diverse. Enjoy a comfortable land-based lodge with daily excursions all planned around tides and times…this is THE place 🙂 This remote lodge has all of the little extras… Natural Exposures style ~

- Depart Seattle: Fly from the lodge back to Seattle today on Kenmore Air. Based on the 2026 Kenmore Air flight schedule, the group is expected to arrive back in Seattle today at approximately 5:30 pm. However, the exact 2027 Kenmore Air flight schedule is not expected to be confirmed until around January 2027. If you choose to book your flights before the 2027 Kenmore Air schedule is finalized, we suggest booking a later evening flight from Seattle, or you may want to stay overnight in Seattle. An Uber, Lyft, or taxi from Kenmore Air to SEA usually takes about an hour, but traffic could make the trip longer. Additionally, the flight is subject to delay due to weather or other factors.
Have you ever explored the Woodinville Hollywood District? It offers wonderful wine tasting rooms, great restaurants, and an area that’s easy to explore on foot. It’s only about a 10-15 minute Uber, Lyft, or taxi ride from our group hotel in Bothell on the first night of the trip.
The Hollywood District is also home to a beautiful lavender field that should be in full bloom in early July—perfect for photos! We visited in 2026 and thought it was well worth seeing. Arrive in Seattle a day early (or depart later) to explore Woodinville. If you’d like help with booking the hotel before or after the trip, we’re happy to help with arrangements!

Our lodge, overlooking the beautiful coastline of British Columbia, was started by a father and son team in 1998 after they purchased a cabin and four acres. Over the next four months, they and a host of tradesmen built the lodge, docks, and guest house buildings. As the last carpenter went out the back door, the first guests arrived in May of 1998.This year will mark the lodge’s 30th anniversary. The lodge facilities have been upgraded yearly to offer the best photography, fishing, and recreational opportunities in the Discovery Islands. Enjoy gourmet meals, Starlink Wi-Fi, strong cellular service, and a dedicated exercise area!
Each private room includes its own bathroom, power bars, comfortable beds, nightlights, and any other essential amenities you would find at home.
