Natural Exposures Explorers

It was an amazing time in Alberta with world-class bird experts. Overall, we saw six species of owls and many other birds that we had a chance to photograph.

Although multiple flights and hours of travel time were required to visit the remote Lofoten Islands, this tour was well worth the effort!!! The landscapes were breathtaking, the small towns quaint, and, of course, the Northern lights which appeared on two nights were magnificent. While the weather was unpredictable in that Mother Nature served up snow, sleet, rain, wind gusts up to 40 mph, and a bit of sunshine, our fantastic guide Thomas Vikre and Dan kept us safe! Add to that several delicious meals prepared by Tanya, and you have the makings of yet another fabulous adventure with Natural Exposures!!!!

Although I rarely visit a location twice, Silver Salmon Creek Lodge in Lake Clark National Park is the exception. Both visits were with Dan & Tanya, first in 2019 and again in 2024. In the case of the 2019 visit, salmon were plentiful, and the bears were having a feast. Also, in 2019, three bear cubs made for delightful images. In contrast, in 2024, the salmon run was weak, and for one only on a few times in decades, no bear cubs roamed this part of the park. However, these different conditions provided wonderful opportunities to photograph bears, especially Crimp, clamming in the beautiful morning light while others were spotted along and in the Red River! In addition, during this trip, the puffins were plentiful and, as always, beautiful!!! How great it was to return to this magical place!!!
