Wild Planet Photo Magazine Features Dave and Shiela Glatz

Posted Mar. 9th, 2017 by Jill Mangum

Thousands upon thousands (and possibly even millions!) of images have been taken throughout the years by Explorers who travel on our Natural Exposures Invitational Photo Tours, and we’re always interested in ways Explorers are using these images.

Do you share your precious photographs with friends and family? Or maybe just keep them on hand to rekindle good memories and the unforgettable adventures you’ve had? Have you made prints to display as artwork on the walls of your home? We’re sure most can answer “yes” to one or more of these questions, and these are all wonderful, legitimate uses for your photographs.

But then there are a few who take it to the next level—eager to share their work with a larger audience—leaping into the world of serious publication. This is no easy task, especially nowadays with everyone and their dog snapping photos in an instant from their smart phone; there is a lot more competition out there. Thankfully most serious publications strive for quality versus quantity in the hopes of telling their story and evoking emotion from the viewer.

Well, it just so happens that two of our very own longtime, favorite Explorers recently experienced a great accomplishment in the realm of serious publication. Many of you know/have had the pleasure of traveling with Dave and Shiela Glatz, a fun couple hailing from Chicago.

Dave and Shiela are all smiles on the 2013 Kenya Photography Tour.

We received an email from Dave and Shiela a few weeks ago with an announcement that they were being published in the February 2017 issue of Wild Planet Photo MagazineWild Planet Photo Magazine is a monthly online publication with over 256,000 visitors in more than 190 countries, making them a true international wildlife photography magazine in the digital era. And this magazine contains excellent wildlife photography—they’re not taking work from any “Joe Schmoe.”

Dave and Shiela were selected for “Presenting…,” a unique column highlighting the outstanding work of wildlife photographers from around the world. We’re extremely proud of Dave and Shiela for this impressive achievement and excited they continue to take their photography to new levels. We’re very happy to be able to share their success story with you here on the Blog, so without further ado, here is the February Wild Planet Photo Magazine’s “Presenting…” article featuring their beautiful photographs and insightful interview. Be sure to read about their favorite photography locations, inspirations, advice, and camera gear.

Surely we can all agree that if you’re traveling the globe to capture that special moment, you probably have a strong passion for photography and understand the impact it has in our world, regardless of the final output of your images. But it’s always nice to hear when our Explorers have gone the extra mile! Keep up the fabulous work Dave and Shiela! And thank you for being a part of the NE family and an inspiration to us all 🙂
