Still Photographers Are Sharing Lumix GH5 Photos

Finally, still photographers are sharing LUMIX GH5 photos. We’re finally seeing this camera is much more than just a video machine. One of the misnomers about Panasonic cameras is they’re mostly video production tools. As far as I’m concerned, nothing could be further from the truth. I’m excited that still photographs, from the Lumix GH5, are starting to appear. People can finally see the incredibly professional results this camera is capable of, FOR STILL PHOTOGRAPHERS!

Lumix GH5 High ISO, 1250 ISO, Finally Still Photographers Are Sharing GH5 Photos

Lumix colleague and professional still photographer Mark Toal shot this image with the GH5 at 1250 ISO. You cane see more of Mark’s great work on his blog at mirrorlessphototips.com

Make sure you visit mirrorlessphototips.com to see lots of great tips. Don’t miss Mark’s video showing you how to build a very inexpensive and super tasty “pancake lens”. 😝 Think yummy and quite creative. Thanks for this great post on shooting the GH5 at the higher ISO’s Mark.

    Hi Daniel,
are there any special parameter-setup for shooting BIF with the GH5 ? I last year followed your advice regarding the GX8 and it worked. But the GH5 offers so many improvements regarding AF etc that things might be a bit different. I will go to the very north of Germany coming week were tens of thousands of geese and other bird are preparing for their long-distance flight to Siberia. unfortunately I only will take the new 100-300 Panasonic zoom (which has vastly improved performance over the older version)

What are your suggestions? Have you been able yet to shoot BIF with the new GH5 yet.

any idea would be much appreciated
    Thanks and kind regards
    Christian

      Hi Christian,

Really sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you on this question. I’ve been working with the GH5’s AF settings myself recetnly and trying to get a good idea of the options myself so I wasn’t ready to post anything until now. Quite simply, all my settings for the GH5 are basically the same as those I suggested for the GX8, GH4 as well as the G85. The one caveat to those settings is the GH5’s additional ability to fine tune the AF Focus Settings in the Rec Menu, page 1/5 “AF Custom Setting(Photo). I recently ran a series of AF tests with several cameras including the GH5. I found the GH5 to do extremely well with the Default settings of AF Set 1, with AF Sensitivity on +2. I still have a lot of tests to do since there are so many options and to be honest I’m not sure why this should be so complicated. Based on my early tests I would just go with the default settings and I’m fairly confident you will be happy with what you are able to get. Until I can do more, this is all I can offer. Hope this helps.
